A prescribed burn of some grass land will be conducted this coming Saturday, May 16th. The start time is set to happen between 10 and 11 am. The location is just west of the railroad tracks between Fort Road and down to the Cass River on the north.
The burn is being conducted by trained personnel that have experience doing so for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Members of the Bridgeport Fire Department will also be present for training and observation.
Safety precautions are being taken and Saturday's weather will fit the desired parameters for wind and vegetation conditions. There is likely to be smoke visible for several miles. The wind conditions should allow for smoke not to be of issue to residential areas. This burn is similar to land management actions taken on the nearby Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge.
