As some of you may have known the large log jam on the Cass River in Bridgeport near the Waste Water Plant was removed last month. Unfortunately, a new log jam has now formed further down the river closer to Studor Drive.
If you could please take a moment and take our survey.
The Bridgeport Governmental Center building was built in 1980 on a landfill that was servicing Bridgeport in the 1960s and 1970s. In the early 1990s, the eastern portions of the building settled and required concrete injection to prevent further settling of the building foundation. Since then additional settling occurred within the western portion of the building, which was occupied by the Bridgeport Township Police Department. The settling was likely a result of materials within the landfill decaying of organic materials placed within the landfill several decades ago. Methane is a common byproduct of this process.
