Bridgeport Charter Township is currently accepting applications for a full-time (40 hr /week) Fire Inspector/Firefighter. Responsibilities include enforcement of adopted fire codes pertaining to commercial occupancies of Bridgeport Charter Township, assisting with public education programs, responding to emergency medical and fire calls during assigned hours. A full job description is available for viewing at or in person at the Bridgeport Charter Township Offices and the Bridgeport Fire Department. 

Qualifications include at a minimum: High School Diploma/GED, at least 18 years old, possess a valid Michigan Drivers License. Perspective candidates will be required at time of application to possess at a minimum a valid State of Michigan Emergency Medical Responder License, a State of Michigan Firefighter I and II Certification, a State of Michigan Operations Level Hazmat certification. Candidates must pass a background screening and pass a pre-employment physical. 

A current State of Michigan Fire Inspector Certification with at least 3 years’ experience in fire code enforcement is preferred. If a candidate does not possess a current Michigan Inspector certification, he or she will be expected to obtain the certification within 365 days of hire.
