  • A Hazard Mitigation Plan is a multi-jurisdictional planning document that:
  • Profiles specific hazard risks and vulnerabilities
  • Addresses and prioritizes potential mitigation projects
  • Proposes specific actions that can reduce or prevent harm within a community
  • Creates a coordinated approach to implementing the strategies and available resources

The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 addresses mitigation planning and requires state and local governments to prepare as a precaution for receiving FEMA mitigation project grants.

In Saginaw County, the Office of Emergency Management is the coordinating agency for all emergency management activities. The office is responsible for continually monitoring and updating the Saginaw County Emergency Action Guidelines, as well as many other disaster-related activities.
