Saginaw County Hazard Mitigation Plan Available for Public Review
Notice is hereby given that the Saginaw County Emergency Preparedness Council (SCEPC) has made a draft of the Saginaw County Hazard Mitigation Plan available for public review.
An electronic draft of the Saginaw County Hazard Mitigation plan can be viewed at http://saginawhazmit.blogspot.com.
A print copy of the draft Saginaw County Hazard Mitigation Plan is available for review at the Saginaw County Office of Emergency Management, 111 S. Michigan Ave., Saginaw.
The draft Saginaw County Hazard Mitigation Plan will be on the agenda at the February 21, 2017, Saginaw County Board of Commissioners meeting at 5:00 pm, Room 200, Saginaw County Governmental Center, 111 S. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, Michigan, 48602.
- A Hazard Mitigation Plan is a multi-jurisdictional planning document that:
- Profiles specific hazard risks and vulnerabilities
- Addresses and prioritizes potential mitigation projects
- Proposes specific actions that can reduce or prevent harm within a community
- Creates a coordinated approach to implementing the strategies and available resources
The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 addresses mitigation planning and requires state and local governments to prepare as a precaution for receiving FEMA mitigation project grants.
In Saginaw County, the Office of Emergency Management is the coordinating agency for all emergency management activities. The office is responsible for continually monitoring and updating the Saginaw County Emergency Action Guidelines, as well as many other disaster-related activities.
